DO YOUR NEIGHBORS KNOW YOUR CHURCH IS AN ASSET?

Church gathering

This winter, your church may be hosting warm clothing drives. This might be a good time to share some preparedness information with your neighbors. Does your church have an industrial kitchen? Can your church serve as a warming center or cell phone charging station? As you hand out coats, socks and gloves, don’t forget to tell people that the church is an asset in the event of a disaster this winter

Using the Asset Map for sharing your livestreamed services.

During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, many congregations started to livestream their worship services. This new skill that was necessary then is now part of our new normal. Did you know that you can tag your worship service as “livestream” on the Episcopal Asset Map? Adding that information is helpful so people know they can attend virtual vigils, prayer services and worship services during times of disaster when the roads aren’t safe or people are spread out in shelters, displaced or staying out of town. Churches can also partner together to share responsibilities so that clergy can rest.
