Hi friends,
Thank you for being part of Thunderhead this summer. Whether your camper spent a week with us, your family came to Family Camp, or you joined us for CIT leadership training, it has been a joy to share this place with you.
I'm writing because there's still one more session you can register for — and we've opened it up to everyone.
Environmental Camp — All Ages runs July 12–17, and this year it's exactly what it sounds like. Youth ages 10–17 can attend on their own as residential campers, just like our other sessions. But this time, families, couples, and adults are welcome too. If your camper has been asking to go back, or you've been wishing you could experience Thunderhead alongside them, this is the week.
The session is led by Rev. Dr. Christina O'Hara (priest at Good Shepherd, Sioux Falls) and Dr. David O'Hara (professor of Environmental Studies) — a married couple who bring both faith and hands-on ecological knowledge to every day. Campers spend most of the week outside in the Black Hills, with daily chapel, campfires, arts & crafts, games, and a closing Eucharist woven throughout. Kids under 10 are welcome with a parent or guardian.
Here's how tuition works:
Youth ages 10–17 attending on their own: our standard tiered pricing, starting at $150.
Families and adults: $200 for the first person, $100 for each additional family member, with a $500 family maximum.
As always, camperships and financial assistance are available for anyone. No one is turned away for lack of funds, and every request is handled confidentially.
Camp runs Sunday, July 12 (arrival 4:00 PM) through Friday, July 17 (departure 10:30 AM). Registration closes July 8, so please don't wait.

We'd love to have you back in the Black Hills for one more week.
With gratitude,
